Visiting More Old Cemeteries around Fargo

May 29, 2017

I have enjoyed time with an aunt, two uncles and a cousin the past few days in Fargo and Moorhead. We joked and remembered. I celebrated that I was able to visit with Wally, nearly 97, who still drives.  Some tough genes on my mother's side.

My parents grew up in the area and many of my ancestors are buried here. My mother's mother's mother was a Krabbenhoft. I have researched back to the family of Wulf Krabbenhoft who arrived in the early 1800s. So it was exciting to see the graves of my great great great grandparents. After all the research, standing in the old Elmwood Cemetery among the markers of my relatives was satisfying. It felt as if I were meeting them all. My aunt, Ruth, drove me past the home my mother lived in from about age 8. Quite remarkable the old wooden house is still inhabited, we also visited my grandmother's grave in Sunset Cemetery.

Charlie and I begin our travels to .Twin Falls, Idaho to visit .Mick and Sue who supervised us when Jan and .I were campground hosts in the .Sawtooth Mountains of .idaho. We will take 3 days to get there, spend a couple of days and then drive through eastern Oregon toward Seattle. This is a spur of the moment decision to pay a visit to friends who really appreciated Jan and her work ethic. She was committed to keeping a tidy and accessible camp. So tomorrow is a driving day. Back on the road again!
