Mothers Day in Bowling Green, KY

May 14, 2017

We left the motel just after 7 am. So disgusting I didn't even shower. A leak from the laundry room next door made a huge puddle in the carpet which I covered with towels and didn't report until I checked out this morning. I didn't want anyone coming into the room last night.

Leaving so early gave me lots of time to walk in the Tennessee River Park in Chattanooga. Hardly anyone was out. Charlie loved sniffing and walking, sneezing and walking. I loved watching the fish jump and a few men fishing from the piers. A good feeling in this town. Would like to have delved into the history of the Tennessee Valley Authority and the culture of this town where cyclists share the road and mall parking lots have electric car charging stations!

This afternoon we arrived early in Bowling Green, KY to a very clean motel room - makes up for last night! I took Charlie for a walk in the Central City Square. The temp was in the 80s and the sky was blue. I did my hip and back exercises on the grass under a huge tree. Charlie kept guard. We had early Mother's Day dinner at Donnato's where he got a lot of attention and his portable bowl filled with water. The young people couldn't believe I was traveling to Seattle by car with my dog! Maybe I inspired some adventurers.

Tomorrow we head for Springfield, MO. The drive is 2 lane in places. I expect to see some back country life in the hills. Looking forward to surprises.
