Nearing Home (one of them)

June 4, 2017

I had a wonderful time with friends Sue and Mick near Twin Falls, ID. Jan and I worked with them camp hosting in the Sawtooth Mountains summer 2015. I just hung out while they did stuff around the house. I got to watch the installation of a beautiful Italian granite countertop in their redone kitchen. Reminded me of my fascination with geology and gems. I thought it was beautiful enough to sleep on, but I stopped at sweeping my arms across it.

I drove to Oregon today and look forward to visiting an aunt and staying with her eldest, my cousin who is a month younger than I. Patty and I have worked separately on our fathers' family tree. I can't wait to show her some of the stuff I picked up in Missouri.

Charlie is more and more attached all the time. I look at him and my heart breaks with the idea of leaving him. But I cannot take him. The vet confirmed that it takes a year of tests and reports to get him into .new Zealand. A year ago Jan was alive and well, working with Charlie and loving him. A sad consequence of her death is letting go of Charlie.
