Ready to Fly

Today is our last day cleaning out the house. Jan's schedule worked! We finalize the car sale and have the retirement home pick up my Lazy boy...have had it since 1990. It's a Capricorn trait...loyalty...oh, wait, that's with people.

Tomorrow we fly. Good thing because winter is here. I took the photo yesterday from our neighbors' home where we are staying. Thank you,  Jane and Alister. Your generosity has helped us get out in time.

We are relaxing more each day. Now sleeping 10 hours a night instead of 12! Today we will walk to the beach...maybe a mile...to swim. Our motel is right on the highway so we keep the door closed and air conditioning on to avoid exhaust fumes. Other than that glitch, we are great. Seems all budget motels are on the highway. The island is very hilly so little development toward the internal parts. Everyone needs to be by the water, except for a few wealthy people who own homes up the hills with magnificent views.

We plan to go out to a little island (by boat 20 minutes) and spend 5 nights in a traditional open bungalow with bucket for a shower, cooking over a fire and no electricity. It will be the true Vanuatu experience. They do have mosquito nets and it is right on a sandy beach. Will try to remember the camera! Took it the other day without its battery! That was helpful!

Anyway, more later...share this with anyone interested.
Love,
Kate
We will miss our good friends in Wanaka, but we are also feeling very excited for the adventure that will take us 'who knows where.' But we will keep you posted.
