So, today Jan and I went for a walk looking for a swimming hole. The photo shows how unprofessionally I was dressed. We passed the swimming pool without realizing it and were offered a ride by a nice guy in a nice car. Tuns out he was on his way back to his school where he has 12 disabled students included in his 6 month to 6 year Pikinini Playtime early education center. Tony and his wife Carol are Australians who run the only school on the island which accepts students with special needs.
So I revealed my credentials and offered to help two mornings a week. I start next Monday at 8:30 when he picks me up. I am looking forward to working with some of the indigenous children in their school. In fact, I feel lucky that we were picked up on the side of the road despite my crazy clothes! Just being in the right place at the right time.
